Nicolas Escobar Velasquez, PhD
Postdoctoral Researcher
Nicolas Escobar Velasquez is a biostatistician whose research focuses on statistical methods for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis. More broadly, his work addresses methodological challenges in child and adolescent health research, including studies of insulin sensitivity and biomarkers in children with obesity, anxiety dynamics within adolescent–caregiver dyads, and the evaluation of novel interventions for pediatric speech disorders.
He also maintains an active research program in aging, with interests in developing biological clocks based on hematological data in mice and advancing methods for comparing brain imaging data across the aging spectrum. His methodological research includes geometric statistics, particularly manifold-valued data analysis and manifold-indexed Gaussian processes. In addition, he develops and maintains the R packages riemtan and riemtats.
