DBEI is pleased to announce that Yong Chen, PhD, Professor of Biostatistics and Informatics, has been granted a dual primary appointment in the Division of Informatics, in addition to his primary appointment in the Division of Biostatistics.
Dr. Chen is the Founding Director of the Center for Health AI and Synthesis of Evidence (CHASE) and directs the Computing, Inference and Learning Lab (PennCIL) at Penn, where his work bridges statistical methodology and medical informatics – from evidence synthesis and data integration to comparative effectiveness research and precision medicine. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers spanning both fields and holds fellowships in the ASA, IMS, ACMI, AMIA, ISI, and RSM.
This appointment reflects DBEI’s initiative to support faculty whose research and teaching span multiple disciplines, strengthening cross-divisional collaboration across the department.
