DBEI is pleased to announce that Qi Long, PhD, Professor and Vice Chair of Faculty Professional Development, has been granted a dual primary appointment in the Division of Informatics, in addition to his primary appointment in the Division of Biostatistics.
Dr. Long’s research program combines data science, informatics, and ML/AI research with impactful biomedical research, developing robust methods for integrating complex multimodal health data, causal inference, data privacy, algorithmic fairness, and – more recently – LLMs and agentic AI for biomedicine. He is the founding Director of the Center for Cancer Data Science, Associate Director for Cancer Informatics at the Penn Institute for Biomedical Informatics, and Associate Director for Quantitative Data Science at the Abramson Cancer Center. He is an elected fellow of the AAAS, AIMBE, ASA, IMS, ISI, and AMIA.
This appointment reflects DBEI’s initiative to support faculty whose research and teaching span multiple disciplines, strengthening cross-divisional collaboration across the department.
