Research Assistant Professor of Epidemiology

Dr. Zhe Chen is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics (DBEI) at the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining the faculty, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at DBEI, mentored by Dr. Michael Harhay and Dr. Dylan Small. She earned her PhD in Statistics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2024. Her research develops novel statistical methods for causal inference, including heterogeneous treatment effects, causal machine learning, instrumental variables, and design-based inference, with applications spanning clinical trials, observational studies, and vaccine immunology.
